Summary Smart Safety Management System with Optimized Application of New Technologies in Tunnels and Confined Spaces.
01 | Tunnel - Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport New Construction Technology No. 828 - The first new technology in the smart safety field. |
02 | Confined Space - Disaster and Safety New Technology No. 2019-5-5 - Designated as Registered New Technology by Korea Water Resources Corporation |
03 | The first application of wireless communication technology throughout the entire tunnel and underground structures in Korea. (At sites without communication facilities) |
Is tunnel safety management considered the most challenging? GSiL Smart Safety began with tunnels.
During a time when safety was not as emphasized, and smart safety was an unfamiliar concept,
GSiL pioneered the application of smart safety systems at the Janghang Line 3rd Phase Railway site.
Following that, a business cooperation agreement was established with the National Railroad Administration's Gangwon Branch,
Since then, GSiL has undertaken projects such as the Dangjin Undersea Tunnel, Sillim~Bongcheon, Sinbundang Line Extension Tunnel Construction, road construction, power plant construction, water supply pipeline renewal, and the world's largest semiconductor site.
The tunnel smart safety solution, once considered a narrow path for everyone, is the foundation that has made GSiL what it is today.
It is different from a patent.
We apply technology recognized for both on-site applicability and technical competence through New Excellent Technology (NET) certification.
"New Excellent Technology" (NET) is a certification system for newly developed technologies or products in Korea.
It is the first certification for tunnel/confined space worker safety management technology in the country that cannot be certified for similar technologies.
Construction New Technology No. 828 certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport
Worker Safety Management System based on Worker Location and Environmental Information during Tunnel Construction.
Disaster and Safety New Technology No. 2019-5-5 certified by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Confined Space Worker Safety Management System utilizing IoT technology and RTLS.
Why New Excellent Technology?
•Recommendation for prioritized application by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport for new technology
•Awarding bonus points for new technology when selecting excellent construction methods
•Application and expansion of exemption of responsibility for damages
•On-site applicability verification (differentiation from patent methods)
•Certification of possessing excellent technology
•Analysis of effects such as air quality improvement, safety enhancement, and cost reduction.
Technological Components
Tunnel/Closed Space Safety Management,
these issues have been resolved.
Main Feature
Safety IoT helps ensure the safety of workers in tunnels/closed spaces and establish a response system in case of emergencies through the implementation of real-time monitoring systems.
Integrated Monitoring of Smart Safety Management System in Tunnels |
![]() |
•Confirmation of worker location information within enclosed workspaces
•Determining site access eligibility and disseminating information in hazardous situations (Sensors for measuring 5 major toxic gases, air supply/exhaust detection sensors, aperture detection sensors)
•Display of detailed information about the work when selecting hazardous tasks
•Real-time notifications of hazardous situations and air quality abnormalities for both internal and external site managers
Main Reference
31 Clients ㅣ 94 Sites ㅣ Contract amount of 6.2 billion won
Interconnected IoT Safety Equipment
Worker Location Tracking
Helmet-Integrated Transceiver
(Patent No. 30-0938618)
A smart wearable device, this helmet-mounted transceiver is designed to be worn on safety helmets. It seamlessly integrates with the 'Safety Platform' to facilitate real-time tracking of workers' locations and emergency response (SOS) when connected.
IoT CCTV
A smart safety solution that provides real-time video is easily installable at desired locations. Through platform integration (Web/App), it ensures real-time on-site monitoring and two-way communication, safeguarding safety within the workplace.
Smart Hatch Monitoring
A smart hardware that, through real-time hatch monitoring, detects abnormal opening and closing and sends alerts to administrators in the event of unauthorized access. This helps manage risk areas and prevents hatch-related accidents.
Intake and Exhaust Detection
A smart hardware that ensures the normal operation of intake/exhaust equipment for air circulation, and sends alarms upon shutdown. This helps prevent asphyxiation incidents during confined-space work.
With GSiL, We look forward to hearing from those who will contribute to building the "Road towards Safety."
